Year-round we have a flock of laying hens. We allow our hens to free-range on our seven acres and they spend their days looking for grass and bugs. Free-ranging makes for delicious eggs and as a bonus is keeps down the tick population. In addition to all of the goodies they find in the field they are fed an organic layer feed from a local grain mill.
Once a year we also raise meat birds. They chickens are raised indoors for the first couple of weeks while they are still very small and then they live out the rest of their lives on pasture being rotationally grazed. In addition to all of the goodies they find in the field they are fed non-gmo grain from a local mill.
