This is a new series I am starting. Life has been crazy with children, critters, and the three H's (homesteading, homemaking, and homeschooling.) Sometimes when things get crazy it is easy for me to feel overwhelmed instead of appreciating the moment. To change that I am going to post the things I am thankful for each week. I want to make sure I am enjoying the life God has given me rather than focusing on the negative.
Every year we have grand plans for a garden. And every year those plans don't quite come to fruition. Oh, we get seeds in the ground but it is never as timely or as organized as I would like. Then comes the task of weeding. It is something that should be done everyday but it's a task we always put on the back burner. By July, our garden usually looks like a jungle.
But ya know what?
Even though we are awful gardeners the garden still produces.
It still feeds us fresh green beans, lettuce, and tomatoes. It even gives us enough produce to can pickles and tomato sauce. We find lots of volunteer squash. Some years we manage to harvest radishes and beets even though they are covered with weeds.
I am so thankful that in spite of our lack of gardening motivation we are still able to feed ourselves all summer long right from our own backyard.
I am thankful that plants want to grow and will if given the chance.
I am thankful for our garden.
What is one thing you are thankful for today?
